SHOW DESCRIPTION: Chicago-based singer-songwriter Julia Minkin is joined by Boston favorites Bowling Shoes and Cate Yoder for an evening of inventive indie music, compelling storytelling, and rich, genre-bending sounds. From shimmering synth-pop and art-rock experimentation to intimate folk melodies, this lineup offers music that’s as intelligent as it is fun.

ARTIST BIOS:

Julia Minken: Best known for co-writing viral hit songs with French electropop sensation Kid Francescoli, Chicago-based singer-songwriter Julia Minkin steps into her own with her debut album Not Ready, co-created and produced with her husband Andrew Sudhibhasilp. Blending warm, folk-tinged vocals with nostalgic dance-floor energy and introspection, Minkin “finds her own creative voice, shimmering, rhythmic, and heartfelt—both bold and refreshingly sincere” (Thoughts Words Actions).

Bowling Shoes: Melding innovative art-pop experimentalism with indie-rock nuance and arena-ready hooks, Boston, MA’s Bowling Shoes craft eminently catchy music sprinkled with delightful touches of subversive noise

Cate Yoder: A double and electric bassist and guitarist from Richmond, Virginia, Cate Yoder learns about her environment through exploring, inventing, and performing a multitude of genres or really any music she can get hands on. Since being established primarily as a bass player, she is diving into the songwriting indie folk role with her band of talented women, performing in the Boston area. With airy melodies, detailed guitar, piano, and percussive elements, and bitter lyrics, she hopes to share her experience of finding solace and comfort in a complex world.
