Denim & Desire is a burlesque experience that peels back the seams of history, celebrating denim not just as an icon of style, but as a symbol woven through Black resilience, labor, culture, and expression.
From its roots as durable workwear worn by enslaved and working class Black laborers, to its
transformation into a global statement of cool shaped by Black musicians, dancers, and tastemakers, denim has always carried more than meets the eye. August 16th, we honor that legacy, thread by thread, strip by strip.
Expect a dazzling lineup of performers who will reimagine denim in all its forms, raw, rugged, glamorous, and subversive. Through tease, storytelling, and unapologetic sensuality, each act pays tribute to the Black bodies and voices that turned denim into a canvas of identity and power.
This is more than a show. It is a reclamation. A celebration. A strut through history in your best blues.

Denim is in our genes. From our enslaved ancestors dressed in negro cloth, to the denim clad cowboys on dude ranches, to denim being reclaimed and made into a statement of rebellion in the civil rights movement, to the repositioning of denim in the world of fashion due in part to black taste makers.
