SlapSchtick & Spare Tire

Two shows in one hour!

SlapSchtick

SlapSchtick has been bringing the Borscht Belt to you since 2023! Made up of Greater Boston’s funniest Jews, we add a little something Semitic to classic improv, original sketches, and more than a little singing.

Come laugh with us as we celebrate our 4,000 years of history, one Schtick at a time.

Not Jewish? That’s okay, we aren’t mad! We aim to please our audience regardless of culture or ideology. Welcome to the SlapSchtick Mishpacha! Don’t know what that means? Come to the show and just ask!

Performers:

Ari Goldberg – @arithelionking – Bio: Ari Goldberg is a Boston based improviser, comedian, podcaster, and producer. He is a long time member of Improv Asylum’s house teams and worked with their NXT cast for a while too. He has produced and starred in over 175 episodes of his own narrative comedy podcast Crews Control along with a handful of other wildly entertaining comedy podcasts. Ari is proud to share his goofy style of humor with whoever will listen and is always ready to do bits. Ari has four Jewish parents and therefore twice the Jewish guilt.

Bo Segrest – @bo_segrest – Bio: Bo Segrest is a writer and comedian based in Boston, MA. He has performed on house teams at Improv Asylum, Harold nights at Union Comedy, with Slapschtick, and is the understudy for Improv Asylum’s NXT show. He is also the executive producer of Modern Exhibits: a sketch comedy podcast, and he is the co-editor of Yesterday’s Magazine (a local print comedy publication.) When he is not doing comedy, Bo can be found drinking and frolicking. His parents are also divorced.

Emma Hobbs – @no_emma – Bio: Emma Hobbs has been making Jewish jokes across the continental US since she could first say “my tummy hurts.” Emma’s known for never stopping talking about her Jewish Summer Camp and calling people antisemitic when they talk about Christmas. Emma has performed with Improv teams and studios across the Greater-Boston area. She’s a member of Stop That Baby!, Improv Asylum’s House Teams, and Union Comedy’s Clyde. Emma never learned to read Hebrew without vowels, so she memorized her Torah portion. If you ask nicely, she’ll recite it for you.

Leah Dodell – @leahjoyvey – Bio: Leah Dodell is a recovering theater kid originally from Atlanta, Georgia. She started doing improv in college and now performs on House Teams at Improv Asylum and with SlapSchtick. Although she was born and raised in the leisurely South, her New York Jewish parents ensured she still gained a healthy dose of neuroticism.

Sarah Zeiberg – @sarahisaniceberg – Bio: Sarah Zeiberg loves to make crowds laugh, despite her parents being happily married. Sarah has been doing improv since middle school, holds a B.A. in theatre, and has appeared in Improv Asylum House Teams.

Addy Gover – @addy_ghg – Bio: Addy Gover is a writer and comedian. You can see them perform at Improv Asylum on various casts and understudying for the MainStage. Feel free to talk to them after the show!

Spare Tire Presents: the Good, the Bad, and the Dipstick

Bo, Emma, and August have all been competing for each others’ attention for years. Their sketch comedy explores themes of loneliness, exclusion, and an alien species laying eggs in your lower intestine.

@bo_segrest is excluded from the group because Emma and August are dating each other.

@augustkees is excluded from the group because Bo and Emma worked for the same ghost tours company years ago.

@emmaeskinner is excluded from the group because she’s not one of the boys.

Together, they are all local comedians who are part of a pending lawsuit against the Pep Boys in Everett.
