Boston Fringe presents
50% Nonverbal
By C. Neil Parsons
“Most of the stuff I say is true because I saw it in a dream & I don’t have the presence of mind to make up lies when I’m asleep.” These are not my words, but the words of artist Brian Andreas, who has more words than I do. What’s up with my lack of words? My Finnish ancestry has something to do with it: after all, one of their national sayings is “Silence is gold, talking is silver.” To which I would add, “Trombone is brass.” I mention this because playing the trombone is another thing which tends to limit my verbosity. And when I consult my thesaurus, the trombone also limits my loquacity, jabbering, and mouth language.
Me’leven
By Grace Elin
Me’leven was originally conceived as a short and performed on the Rockwell stage as part of the Boston variety show, The Kerfuffle. After receiving such a positive response, Grace Elin decided to expand the short to a full length one woman show for the Providence Fringe Festival last summer. Finding the balance between comedy and tragedy, Grace explores a few intimate moments of her life through a handful or stories, in hopes to inspire her audience to do the same. Sometimes life gives us the opportunity to take a leap, and it is in those moments when we are truly channeling our purest joy, our inner strength, and our 11yr old self. Having Me’leven return to the stage where it was created is undoubtably another moment in Grace’s life that has turned to 11.
