Boston Fringe presents AAPC
The Asian American Playwrights Collective (AAPC) is a Boston group of AAPI playwrights here to showcase 4 short plays on the theme of FOOD or SPIRITUAL ADVISORS.
The FOOD show (aka CHECK, PLEASE) follows 4 foodcentric encounters: a discomfiting job interview, a moment of connection between two women in tech, a family learning something about their youngest daughter, and a daughter learning to embrace her divorced mom’s new life.
The SPIRITUAL ADVISORS show follows 4 visits from specters: a mysterious truthteller, a warrior goddess, a dream fairy, and an interplanar Shakespeare traveler.
Our plays showcase both the breadth of AAPI stories by featuring various cultures (Philippines, Taiwan), family dynamics, surviving Western stereotypes, and sometimes most importantly, giving AAPI actors the room to play characters previously forbidden to them.
