Empty Night & Revenge of the Soy Boy

2 shows in 1 hour!

Empty Night

How would you feel if you ever encountered a ferocious Bengal tiger, a female Bengal tiger with paws destroyed by bullets? Now imagine that you are a thief, not by choice, but by circumstances- you got a knife in your back while trying to steal so that your kids can eat. And on your way, you came face-to-face with a female Bengal tiger, who entered a human village to find food for her cubs. Award-winning playwright Abhisek Bhattacharya’s play “Empty Night” is a story of our time when the forests are dwindling, habitats shrinking —and despite their ferocious strength and immense pride, the tigers can only survive as long as humans allow them to. On an empty stage, two individuals on the brink of death confront life. Both make sacrifices, and one learns the rules of survival to find out what it means to be human.

BIO
Abhisek Bhattacharya is an immigrant playwright and performer (Asian Indian) who has been creating plays since he was in middle school in India. His plays span multiple genres, from short comedy to full-length drama, and irrespective of their external façade, they always portray something relevant to the current social environment.
He is also the artistic director of Hattimatim-Team, Inc., a small theatre company in Maryland that develops new, unpublished work by new and emerging playwrights. The company provides opportunities to artists from the community with minimal stage experience. Its play development process, workshops, and rehearsals are often rigorous and demanding, but also fun. For the last few years, the Hattimatim-Team, Inc. has performed full-length plays in Maryland and toured the country performing in multiple short-play festivals, including some off-off-Broadway festivals in NYC.

Didhiti Mukherjee has extensive training in Indian classical music and dance and is passionate and enthusiastic about theatre, recitation, and singing. Her stage performances have earned her numerous awards since she was a toddler. She has performed extensively as a singer and actress in the USA, first in Iowa and then in Maryland, where she currently lives. Her performance credits include Gorur Garir Headlight (in Bengali Maryland, 2019); “Neighbor! Neighbor!” at Olney, MD (2023) and at Pelham, NY, 2024 (off-off-Broadway), “Catastrophe” at Queens, NY, 2024 (off-off-Broadway), at The Tank, Manhattan, 2024 (off-off-Broadway), and at Baltimore, MD (2025), “Wifey Unknown” (at Greenbelt, Maryland), and “Empty Night” (10-minute version) at Olney (MD) and ilver Spring (MD), 025. The Hattimatim-Team website (https://www.hattimatim-team.com) features a comprehensive list of her acting performances.
