A Message to our Rockwell Family
March 15 – April 11, 2020
To our Family, Friends & Neighbors,
Over the past week, we have been working on dozens of ways to keep our doors open, our staff paid, and our patrons healthy, but every day that we stay open it feels more foolish to do so. We are so grateful to all of you who have come out to support us this week!
We are confident that our employees are taking every precaution – hand washing, sanitizing, spacing out our seating for social distancing, and holding our spaces at half capacity. But over the weekend, we have observed that the public is not consistently following these recommendations. Some are being cautious, but many are not and this poses a risk for all, including the hospitality workers who are in direct contact with them.
On one hand, the public health message is “the entire region must swiftly enact social distancing measures to avoid repeating the situation in Italy…” On the other hand, “Please go out and support your local bars and restaurants in these hard times.” It’s difficult to know what we should be doing right now. On top of that, there is a lot of uncertainty about how we will weather the economic impact of this crisis.
From the beginning, we have said that our decisions will be driven by what is best for our people – our employees, our guests, and our communities. With this in mind, we have made the decision to temporarily close for business at Foundry on Elm, Saloon, and The Rockwell as of 10:30 pm on Sunday, March 15th.
We feel this is the right thing to do at this time to maintain the health and safety of our employees and guests along with not contributing to the spread of the COVID-19 virus. And we are confident our government will act swiftly to help all of us weather this crisis.
Thank you for all the love and support over the last decade and more importantly during this time. You are what keeps us going and without you, we wouldn’t be here.
Stay Safe and Healthy,
Jess Willis & the entire team of the Rockwell Restaurant Group
