SUMMARY:Abby Holliday + Charli Adams
DESCRIPTION:Abby Holliday + Charli Adams\nThere comes a time in every artist’s career when the art form transcends a mere outlet for self-expression and becomes a universal gift to mankind. For some it takes years\, for Abby Holliday it was there from the start. Her vulnerable introspection and brutal lyricism combined with mind-bending sonic sensibilities and a distinct production style immediately fused a bond between her and her loyal fan base. Holliday masterfully guides listeners through moments in time extremely specific to her own life that puts words to collective experiences of the human condition\, reaching into places we might not have known existed prior. \nAbby found her voice during her early years of college where she began quietly writing songs in the confines of her room. After a friend heard the songs and encouraged her to share them\, Abby met producer Jonathan Class and set off to record her debut album WHEN WE’RE FAR APART I FALL APART. It was in these studio moments where Abby’s sound began to take shape\, a launchpad for her sophomore album I’M OK NO I’M NOT. Holliday and Class experiment with a wide range of sounds from vocoded vocal stacks\, to jarring synths\, to lush strings and piano\, to a tasteful blend of organic and synthetic rhythm sections amassing in a discography that runs the gambit of the most beautiful songs to songs that smack you in the face with unforgettable hooks and driving beats. CRACK A SMILE COME ON STAY A WHILE\, Holliday’s highly anticipated junior record\, is out now. \n \n  \n“Former cheer captain” isn’t something you always see on the resume of a rising\, alternative singer-songwriter. For Charli Adams\, who grew up across several small towns in rural Alabama\, an outward display of optimism might have been the only way to get by. \nCharli Adams was born in a dollar-store town in northern Alabama\, the kind of place you might hear Kacey Musgraves sing about. “I didn’t grow up in a musical family\, but when I wrote my first song it clicked for me\,” she says.”| could be melodramatic about my life in a way l hadn’t in any other form of expression. When I wrote music\, I felt like I could say it all. Songwriting is essentially my only outlet to be unfiltered.” \nFeeling desperately constrained\, Adams left high school at 16 and started making trips to Nashville where she found herself in the alternative music scene. By 17 she was living on her own in Nashville. In between a serving job and finishing high school online\, she would drive the back roads of Tennessee listening to albums from The Cure to The 1975 and seeing every possible underground show Nashville had to offer. These formative years were captured on her debut EP\, Good At Being Young. In 2021\, Adams released her critically acclaimed debut album Bullseye which featured collaborations with Novo Amor\, Ruston Kelly and Nightly. Throughout her career\, she has written for the likes of peach pit\, Chloe Moriondo\, and Valley. Up next\, she’s working on her new EP (expected mid-2023). \n \n  \nPresented by Get To The Gig & MassConcerts \nAges: Show age differs by the day. Shows are All Ages Sundays-Thursdays & 21+ Fridays and Saturdays \n\nValid ID required for Entry on Fridays & Saturdays  \nDoors 7:00 PM  \nShow 8:00 PM  \nRefund Policy: REFUNDS DETERMINED BY GET TO THE GIG \nADA Accessibility: The Rockwell is partially ADA Accessible with an elevator and restrooms in saloon wide enough for wheelchair use.

DESCRIPTION:Lucky Gold Jr. & Werewolf\nSHOW DESCRIPTION: Two East-Coast-via-Ohio based indie projects will be rocking the Rockwell on August 11th with support from a secret special guest! \nARTIST BIOS:  \nLucky Gold Jr. is a folk-rock project led by Massachusetts-based singer-songwriter Ellie Fallon\, with frequent live and recorded support from her sibling Mimi Fallon on bass\, and producer\, instrumentalist\, & friend Ollie Peterson. Fallon has anchored her sound to nostalgia’s ephemera\, unraveling unique experiences with familiar language. She writes about everything from failure to fandom with a perspective informed by hope\, and a sound inspired by her collaborators and musical fixations alike. \nOliver Peterson\, under the name Werewolf\, records alone from his carpet-padded garage in Stamford\, Connecticut. Through one-wire systems\, meticulously-crafted ambient textures\, and natural melodic sensibilities\, Peterson produces a sophisticated sound that ascends the parts of its sum\, and escapes time and place while kneeling in worship to it. Werewolf marries the grounded – acoustic guitars\, crunchy drums\, raw vocals – with the ethereal – swirling drones\, surreally visceral lyricism\, abstract visual components – to build a dream pop\, shoegaze\, indie-rock vision that is entirely his own. \nDOORS: 7:00 PM \nSHOW: 8:00 PM \nAge Limit: This event is All Ages \nID: Valid ID required for alcohol consumption \nLimited Late Seating: Due to the architecture of our space\, the entrance is next to the stage and it is disruptive to the performer to enter late. SUMMARY:Bubble Burlesque: Denim Diaspora
DESCRIPTION:Bubble Burlesque: Denim Diaspora\n\n\nStep into a world where rebellion meets rhinestones\, and fabric tells a story far deeper than fashion. Denim & Desire is a burlesque experience that peels back the seams of history\, celebrating denim not just as an icon of style\, but as a symbol woven through Black resilience\, labor\, culture\, and expression.\n\n\nFrom its roots as durable workwear worn by enslaved and working class Black laborers\, to its \n\n\ntransformation into a global statement of cool shaped by Black musicians\, dancers\, and tastemakers\, denim has always carried more than meets the eye. August 16th\, we honor that legacy\, thread by thread\, strip by strip.\n\n\n\n\n\nExpect a dazzling lineup of performers who will reimagine denim in all its forms\, raw\, rugged\, glamorous\, and subversive. Through tease\, storytelling\, and unapologetic sensuality\, each act pays tribute to the Black bodies and voices that turned denim into a canvas of identity and power.\n\n\n \n\n\nThis is more than a show. It is a reclamation. A celebration. A strut through history in your best blues.\n\n\n\n\n\nSo grab your seats\, hold onto your hems\, and get ready to witness denim like you have never seen it before.\n\n\n \n\n\nDenim is in our genes. From our enslaved ancestors dressed in negro cloth\, to the denim clad cowboys on dude ranches\, to denim being reclaimed  and made into a statement of rebellion in the civil rights movement\, to the repositioning of denim in the world of fashion due in part to black taste makers. On August 16th  at The Rockwell\, join Bubble Burlesque and an Iconic all black cast to find out how we continue to set your tongue. \n\n\n\nTimeline: \nDOORS: 6:30 PM \nSHOW: 7:00PM \nAge Limit: This event is 18+ \nID: Valid ID required for Entry \nStart Time: Performances will begin no later than 15 minutes after stated show time. \nRefund Policy: All sales are final. SUMMARY:Kooked Out\, Viper Cut Eyes\, Stunt
DESCRIPTION:Kooked Out\, Viper Cut Eyes\, Stunt\nSHOW DESCRIPTION: The Scene Within the Scene is a local community building platform for artists and musicians to connect and support one another. This is the first show curated by this group which is completely non profit. The bands on this first show are High Energy Rock bands with influences from Garage/Surf Punk/ and Psych Rock. \nARTIST BIOS: \nKooked Out: “The kaleidoscopic sound of Kooked Out has evolved naturally throughout the years and draws influences from almost every genre and decade of music from the 1930s to present day\, crafting a unique mix of styles and sounds that have developed Kooked Out a cult-like following in the skate and surf communities. Leaning heavily into the music of the ’50s\, ’60s and early 2000s\, Kooked Out’s genre-spanning sound has become a calling card\, both on record and live on stage\, appropriate for a creative outlet that lists its top influences as The White Stripes\, The Beatles\, Jimi Hendrix\, Dick Dale\, The Black Keys\, Cage The Elephant\, and Blink-182.” -Michael Marotta / Knyvet \nMembers: John Fiore\, Chris Laskey\, Chris Caduto\, Emily Trubey / ‘2024 Live Act Of The Year’ New England Music Awards \nViper Cut Eyes: Boston’s unapologetically noisy and transcendent Surfadelic Psych Rock unit Ace McGuire’s Acid Tabs are defibrillating stagnant bodies with blood pulsing riffs paired with a hit of tape echoed and verbed out psychedelia. Originally a bedroom recording project of Bermudian singer and songwriter Liv Dunks and New Bedford MA’s guitarist\, singer and producer Mitch Cardoza\, they expanded their vision by adding San Francisco’s multi-instrumentalist Erik Dietz on bass. \nStunt!: Brings the attitude and aggression of 90s Rock bands to today’s pop music scene. Riffs inspired by the grunge and pop-punk sounds of yesterday meld with vocal melodies that hang with any of today’s radio ear worms. \nSocial Medias: @thescenewithinthescene / @kookedoutofficial / @viper.cut.eyes / @thebandstunt \nDOORS: 7:00 PM \nSHOW: 8:00 PM \nAge Limit: This event is all ages \nID: Valid ID required for alcohol consumption \nLimited Late Seating: Due to the architecture of our space\, the entrance is next to the stage and it is disruptive to the performer to enter late. SUMMARY:EVERFINER Shimmer Funk Cosmic Gala
DESCRIPTION:EVERFINER Shimmer Funk Cosmic Gala\nSHOW DESCRIPTION: Join EVERFINER in a cosmic shimmer celebration of music as the group conjures its 2nd EP\, Shimmer Funk\, from the depths of Nova 37 in EFNR Star Belt. You may find yourself unable to stop dancing to these tunes\, but fear not. Shimmer Funk has been crafted over the past year with the magical properties required to get your body moving and grooving. Resume your position on the bridge\, strap into the cockpit of your star vessel\, and prepare for a shimmer space journey. \nARTIST BIOS: \nEVERFINER is a Boston based six-piece ensemble rocking thoughtful originals in overlapping genres including\, shimmer-folk\, shimmer-funk\, soul\, and pop. BIG HUGE harmonies lay on top of a tight\, minimalist rhythm section\, and if you’re lucky a horn section will casually be lowered from the rafters. \nLyrically\, these tunes work through issues of identity\, boundaries\, long distance relationships\, short distance situationships\, and the flux of family. The band is a beautiful collective of musicians who care as much about each other as they do about their art. As we all grow and learn\, each day we are all becoming a little more EVERFINER. \nHappy Little Clouds is a genre-blurring grit-pop band from Boston crafting emotionally charged\, melody-forward music with a raw edge\, radiant heart\, and live chops. Their self-described sound “grit-pop” weaves the the nerve of post-grunge\, brightness of power pop\, & the introspection of 90s alt-rock. \nJac Mestel’s unfiltered\, heart-on-sleeve lyrics entwine with catchy-AF melodies and emerge as vocals that have been known to turn heads. Derek Bergstrom’s creamy bass counter-melodies mix with Mestel’s driving guitar. Jess Townsend’s (World/Inferno) unique\, expressive drumming is the underlying pulse that brings the band to life. Happy Little Clouds built itself on a foundation of vulnerability\, loud guitars\, fresh drum beats\, and fearless storytelling. Proudly independent & unapologetically themselves\, HLC has emerged as a compelling voice in the indie scene. \nDom the Composer is a Boston/Lowell based Haitian-American singer-songwriter with a mission: to make music with some rhythm\, a little bit of blues\, and a whole lotta soul. Starting his musical journey in the All Saints Choir of Men & Boys in Ashmont\, Dom draws inspiration from these early beginnings & mixes elements from some of his current inspirations like Bill Withers\, Daniel Caesar\, Moonchild\, Thirdstory\, Jacob Collier & Lizzy McAlpine. He hopes to inspire vulnerability\, joy\, & self-reflection with every note & word he can. \nARTIST SOCIALS: @everfiner / @happylittlecloudsband / @domthecomposer \nDOORS: 7:00 PM \nSHOW: 8:00 PM \nAge Limit: This event is 21+ \nID: Valid ID required for Entry \nLimited Late Seating: Due to the architecture of our space\, the entrance is next to the stage and it is disruptive to the performer to enter late.
