SUMMARY:Shit-faced Shakespeare®: Romeo and Juliet
DESCRIPTION:“O\, happy dagger!’ Shit-faced Shakespeare is back at The Rockwell\, where it all began\, with their smash-hit\, internationally acclaimed\, award-winning\, multi sell-out fringe phenomenon version of Romeo and Juliet. There is no love lost between the Capulet and Montague families and everyone in Verona knows it. Certainly the only way to mend centuries of bad blood is by having two forlorn teenagers from opposite households fall in love with each other\, right? Right! Nothing that a swig (or two) of the finest spirits can’t fix! Featuring Shakespeare’s most famous feuding family\, cousins without a cause\, and so many faux deaths it makes daytime TV look good. \nShit-faced Shakespeare® is the deeply highbrow fusion of an entirely serious Shakespeare play with an entirely shit-faced cast member. Side-splitting\, raucous and completely unpredictable\, the show has been running since 2010 and has already entertained over 400\,000 eager theatre goers across the UK. Shit-faced Shakespeare® landed Stateside in April of 2015 with its first performances right here at The Rockwell. \nWith a genuinely drunken professional actor selected at random every night\, no two shows are ever the same. Shit-Faced Shakespeare®  seeks to introduce a new generation of theatre-goers to the works of the Bard by reviving the raucous\, interactive and vibrant nature of Elizabethan theatre with a very modern twist – reminding them as we go to always enjoy Shakespeare responsibly. \nFor more information visit :: www.shitfacedshakespeare.com \nPlaying May 5 through July 9\, 2022 \n**PROOF OF VACCINATION and MASKS REQUIRED**\nRunning Thursday\, Friday\, and Saturday Evenings\nDoors at 6:15pm\nShow at 7:00pm\nSeating; $30 | General Admission | 21+ Proper ID Required (Thursday 18+)\nAccessibility: The Rockwell is wheelchair accessible \n\n* * * * * \n\n\nStill in effect as of June 1\, 2022\, everyone age 5 and up entering The Rockwell (at 255 Elm Street\, Somerville) must show proof of full vaccination.
Smoke & Shadows is The Rockwell’s monthly burlesque and variety show that defies decade and genre\, each time offering a new mix of performers from near and far. \nThe next Smoke & Shadows edition on June 18 has a special theme to observe the summer solstice\, Pride month\, and the beautiful teamwork it takes to reignite the fire of local live entertainment. When Smoke & Shadows turned five earlier this year\, Elsa Riot reflected a lot on what it took to keep the heart beating that long\, through horrific circumstances\, uncertainty\, and loss – and how much beauty and strength we gained for having done it. “Rite of Spring” will be a one-night-only revue that pays homage both to the ugly labor of survival through dark times as well as the divine rebirth and beauty of springtime. Featuring: \nThe return of Smoke & Shadows special cast member Harley Foxx\nMoody Americana & folk from guest musician Naomi Westwater\nOur favorite bubbly emcee & chanteuse Aglam B\nBlooming burlesque from the Smoke & Shadows (S)executives Jessicalee Skary\, Sindy Katrotic\, and Elsa Riot\nMore TBA! \nDon’t make me break out the early bird metaphor! Book your ticket right away because a show this delightfully untamed will sell out. \n**PROOF OF VACCINATION and MASK REQUIRED**\nDoors at 9:00pm\nShow at 9:30pm\nSeating; $28 | General Admission | 21+\nAccessibility: The Rockwell is wheelchair accessible \n\n* * * * * \n\n\nStill in effect as of June 1\, 2022\, everyone age 5 and up entering The Rockwell (at 255 Elm Street\, Somerville) must show proof of full vaccination. This includes all staff\, audience\, cast and crew attending and/or performing at The Rockwell. \nIn addition\, we will require all guests to wear masks while with us during performances. This includes hallways\, lobby\, bar area\, restrooms\, and once you are seated. You may remove your mask when actively sipping on that tasty beverage from the bar but mask back up once you’re done. We’ll have zero tolerance of noses in public spaces. \nBe aware that these guidelines are ever-changing and if anything changes we will be in touch. Let’s all do our part to stop the spread and keep one another healthy. #MaskUP
