SUMMARY:Red Nose Clown Workshop with Mycah Hogan
DESCRIPTION:Red Nose Clown Workshop with Mycah Hogan\n\nTiny Bullseye: Discovering the Red Nose Clown\nTHIS IS A 2-DAY WORKSHOP! You must be available for both days\n\nFor as long as there have been humans\, there have been clowns\, and this new and exciting workshop with Mycah Hogan invites you to discover your unique clown through movement\, improvisation\, and the profound depth of play. Through a combination of somatic exploration and opportunities to wear “the smallest mask in the world” (the red nose)\, participants will uncover their unique individual movement patterns and learn to amplify the physical and emotional themes that already inhabit the body. This process reveals the traces of a “personal clown”: a comic persona that is rooted in your individual truth while touching the timeless nature of laughter.Open to all—actors\, improvisers\, directors\, comedians\, dancers\, aerialists\, teachers\, facilitators\, and anyone curious about the poetry of the ridiculous. No clown experience necessary. Come with a willingness to be vulnerable\, to be incredibly stupid\, to be nothing\, to be everything\, and to explore the stuff that makes us human. We’ll explore clown as a state and the fundamentals of performance while engaging with group dynamics\, physicality\, and the art of collaborative creation. This is clown as both artistic practice and personal journey—a dance of resilience\, a celebration of what makes you uniquely\, foolishly\, beautifully you.\n\nBio\nMycah Hogan is a clown\, educator\, and community organizer. He is a performer\, director\, and one of the most innovative young teachers in the world for clown\, mask\, and physical acting. On faculty at Brown-Trinity Repertory’s MFA Program and NYU’s International Theatre Workshop\, he teaches in Amsterdam\, New York\, Philadelphia\, and in his home city of Providence\, where he is committed to generating a legendary clown scene by providing affordable\, conservatory-level actor training to the next generation of innovative theater artists.\n\n\n\n\nThis event is All ages\, though recommended for 16+\n \nThis is a 2-day workshop and you must be available for both days. \nDoors 9:30 AM  \nStart 10:00 AM  \nEnd 4:00 PM  \nWheelchair Accessibility: Please call the host at (617) 628-4444 to let you in through the elevator in The Gorin Building.

SUMMARY:Micah P. Hinson
DESCRIPTION:Micah P. Hinson\n \n  \nMICAH P. HINSON\nIn early 2020\, Micah P. Hinson almost walked away from his music career. The esoteric Americana / folk singer-songwriter – who divides his time between Texas and Spain – had released ten critically acclaimed albums and built up a loyal fanbase (particularly in Europe)\, yet he felt trapped and deeply depressed. \n“It hit me that all I was doing was writing about my previous relationships and situations\, and that meant I had nowhere to go\,” Hinson says. “How can you progress as a human being into the future if all you’re doing is writing about all the shit that chains you to the past?” \nBorn in Memphis but raised in Texas\, Hinson didn’t initially understand his uniqueness. For one thing\, he is of Chickasaw descent\, a Native American tribe known for being particularly fierce warriors. For another\, his family belonged to The Church of Christ\, which is\, as he explains it\, “one of the newest and the strictest and the most bizarre sects of Christianity.” \nAs a teen\, Hinson rejected his religious background and instead turned to music for inspiration\, listening to industrial and alternative acts such as Skinny Puppy\, My Bloody Valentine\, and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Along with his older brother\, he began playing the guitar\, writing songs that reflected those musical influences. At his brother’s suggestion\, though\, Hinson began playing acoustic guitar\, though he retained his edge – a trait that remains one of his music’s most distinctive qualities to this day. \nHinson began writing prolifically\, recording the tracks at home and giving copies to his friends. He didn’t try to get a record deal\, though\, because his complicated living situation didn’t allow him to pursue anything that ambitious. “I was essentially homeless in Austin\, Texas\, and my life was going absolutely nowhere\,” he says. “I couldn’t get a job. I didn’t have a car that worked. My life wasn’t going well.” He was in such dire straits that he didn’t even own a guitar anymore. \nAfter his friend John Mark Lapham (from the band The Earlies) showed Hinson’s songs to a London-based record label\, Hinson was finally given a way to escape his desperate situation. Besides signing him to a record deal\, the label also supplied Hinson with funds to pay off warrants for his arrest\, a passport\, and a plane ticket to the U.K.\, where he recorded his debut album\, Micah P. Hinson and the Gospel of Progress. Upon its release in 2004\, that album earned him instant acclaim and a significant European following.  \nHinson’s next nine albums fared equally well\, establishing him as one of the more innovative and interesting singer-songwriters in the international alt-folk scene. His songs are touchstones from the various moments in his colorful life\, from his unsettled early days through his more recent years when he’s been a devoted father. \n  \nThis event is All Ages  // Valid ID required for alcohol consumption \nDoors 6:00 PM  \nShow 7:00 PM  \nShow will begin no later than 15 minutes after showtime. \nNO REFUNDS. \nWheelchair Accessibility: Please call the host at (617) 628-4444 to let you in through the elevator in The Gorin Building.

SUMMARY:Modern Nature
DESCRIPTION:Modern Nature\nWith Brigid Dawson & The Mothers Network\nWhen the critically-acclaimed Modern Nature toured their last album\, 2023’s No Fixed Point In Space\, it became apparent to Jack Cooper – the band’s main creative force – that they were already pulling away from the free\, open-ended approach they had spent five years working towards; almost as if the music had become so abstract and elasticated\, it now had to snap back towards something more structured. As they found themselves naturally locking into more fixed grooves\, he realised a new direction had been set. Their new\, fourth\, album – The Heat Warps – is the triumphant manifestation of where that new direction took them. \nModern Nature: \nhttps://www.instagram.com/m0dernnature/?hl=en\nhttps://modernnature.band/ \n\nBrigid Dawson & the Mothers Network: \n\n  \n \n  \n  \nPresented by Get To The Gig & MassConcerts \nThis event is All Ages  // Valid ID required for alcohol consumption \nDoors 7:00 PM  \nShow 8:00 PM  \nREFUNDS DETERMINED BY GET TO THE GIG \nWheelchair Accessibility: Please call the host at (617) 628-4444 to let you in through the elevator in The Gorin Building.

Grab a drink and enjoy as we prove that brevity is indeed the soul of wit- helped with a bit of wine! \nWith a genuinely drunken professional actor each night\, no two shows are ever the same. Shit-Faced Shakespeare seeks to introduce a new generation of theatre-goers to the works of the Bard by reviving the raucous\, interactive and vibrant nature of Elizabethan theatre with a very modern twist – reminding them as we go to always enjoy Shakespeare responsibly. \n  \nThis event is 21+ // Valid ID required  \nDoors 6:15 PM  \nShow 7:00 PM  \nUNFORTUNATELY\, THERE IS NO GUARANTEED LATE SEATING FOR COMEDY & THEATER.\nSeating begins 30-60 minutes before show time.
