SUMMARY:Julia Masli: ha ha ha ha ha ha ha (All Ages)
DESCRIPTION:The blurb is: hahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahaha hihihi hahahahahahahaha hoho hahahhahahaha hehe hahahahahahahahahaha. “Ha.” Guardian\n \n\nNominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Awards \nNominated Most Outstanding Show Melbourne International Comedy Festival\n\n \n“Masli’s breakthrough\, poignant show has its audience in stitches. So\, that’s how cults are born”  The New York Times \n\n \n“New York’s wildest show” New York Magazine\n \n“Julia Masli’s eldritch\, exquisite show…a mix of elevated clown work and group-therapy session” The New Yorker\n\n“Bold\, Bizarre and Brilliant. It must be experienced in person” Manhattan Digest\n\n\n★★★★★ ‘The year’s most exciting\, have-to-be-there comedy moment’ Guardian\n \n★★★★★ ‘A strange and beautiful masterpiece’ Telegraph\n\n \n★★★★★ ‘Magical’ Time Out\n\n\n★★★★★ ‘Unpredictable and thrilling… A standout’ Chortle \n \n★★★★ The Times\n\n \n★★★★  The Independent\n\n\n\n\nTop Pick of the Year | New York Times\n\n\n#1 Comedy Show of the Year | Guardian\n\n\n#1 Comedy Show in London | Time Out\n\n\nBest Comedy of the Year | Telegraph\n\nJulia Masli is an award-winning clown from Estonia\, based in London. \nAll she wants to do is solve people’s problems and eventually win the Nobel Prize\, presented to those who have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind. But this plan keeps going wrong as she continually wins prizes for comedy. \nIt was bad enough when she was the winner of the Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality in 2019 and her debut show ‘Choosh’ – about a migrant’s struggles in the USA – was one of the most acclaimed comedy shows of the Edinburgh Fringe in 2022. But in 2023\, things spiralled when she set out to help audience members in ‘ha ha ha ha ha ha ha’\, which you can read about in the New York times here. \nThis serious\, important event was nominated for Edinburgh’s top prize of Best Comedy Show and named number one comedy show of the year by the ‘Guardian’\, before being invited for a four-week\, completely sold-out run at London’s Soho Theatre. Despite the seriousness of Julia’s intentions\, the show was once more shortlisted for Most Outstanding Show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival after another total sellout season. From there\, it transferred directly to a four-week sold-out run at Soho Playhouse in New York City\, and a sold-out run at The Elysian in LA. \nJulia has taught at Ecole Philippe Gaulier and at various drama schools in the UK. \nThis event is All Ages  // Valid ID required for alcoholic beverages \nDoors 8:00 PM  \nShow 9:00 PM  \nUNFORTUNATELY\, THERE IS NO LATE SEATING. Seating begins a minimum 30 minutes before show time. We sit center and front sections first\, side sections last. If you want a central seat\, please arrive early.  \nShow will begin no later than 10 minutes of showtime. \nWheelchair Accessibility: Please call the host at (617) 628-4444 to let you in through the elevator in The Gorin Building.

SUMMARY:Superfan\, Album Release Show (All Ages)
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Rockwell\nSomerville\, MA\nDoors: 7:00PM | Show: 7:30PM\n  \nSuperfan (Kali Flanagan) knows a thing or two about rebirth. Flanagan is just a hair older than 19-years-old\, but the New York City-based artist has already changed his artist name\, gone through a bold stylistic transformation and moved across the country. When talking about it all he’s eminently straightforward. This is his life after all\, and his new album\, Tow Truck Jesus\, is a granular\, 11-track accounting of a young man’s coming-of-age. From grappling with identity and relationships to navigating the complexities of adulthood\, Flanagan’s music delves into the raw realities of life with unapologetic candor. His ascent in musicianship is propelled by his confident\, deadpan style\, captivating audiences with his intimate storytelling and multi-modal musicality. His 2023 residency at L.A.’s Genghis Cohen became a notable scene\, drawing attention from industry luminaries like Julian Casablancas of The Strokes\, who recognized Flanagan’s mature artistry. Collaborating with producer Gabriel Wax\, Flanagan honed a pared-down sound that accentuated the grit of his diaristic writing style while showcasing his musical versatility. As Flanagan’s voice evolved through Hormone Replacement Therapy\, his music became a reflection of his personal journey\, addressing themes of desire\, dysphoria\, and self-acceptance with poignant lyricism. Flanagan’s narrative resonates as a testament to the universal journey of self-discovery and growth. \n– Tobias Hess \n\nThis event is ALL AGES  // Valid ID required for alcoholic beverages \nWheelchair Accessibility: Please call the host at (617) 628-4444 to let you in through the elevator in The Gorin Building.

SUMMARY:An Evening with the Folk Implosion (All Ages)
DESCRIPTION:“How the fuck are we going to turn this into a song?” \nThat’s the question Lou Barlow and John Davis have asked themselves since co-founding the Folk Implosion in the early 1990s. Beginning with improvised jams featuring Barlow on bass and Davis on drums\, the duo develop their beat-driven pop collages from the ground up. It’s the process they used on their debut cassette\, Walk Through This World with the Folk Implosion\, and one they’ve returned to 30 years later on their spellbinding\, self -referencing reunion\, Walk Thru Me. \nSeparated from their homes in Massachusetts and North Carolina\, Barlow and Davis collaborated remotely\, flashing back to their early friendship as\npenpals. A sweaty bass and drums session went down in Barlow’s attic\,\nbefore they booked studio time with producer Scott Salter (St. Vincent\,\nSpoon\, The Mountain Goats). \nContrasts and comparisons are the keys to unlocking Walk Thru Me\, and the Folk Implosion as a whole. Beyond the audible differences between Barlow’s soft voice and Davis’s urgent\, reedy proclamations\, their approaches to songwriting are strikingly distinct. While Barlow approached his lyrics from a protective paternal perspective (“My Little Lamb”)\, Davis paid tribute to his late father\, shining a light on their complicated relationship (“The Day You Died”). \nThis event is All Ages // Valid ID required for alcoholic beverages \nDoors 7:00 PM \nShow 7:30 PM \nShow will begin no later than 10 minutes of showtime. \nWheelchair Accessibility: Please call the host at (617) 628-4444 to let you in through the elevator in The Gorin Building.

DESCRIPTION:  \nNamed “NYC’s Hardest Working Band” in 2022 (and the runner-up in 2023) by Oh My Rockness after playing 150+ shows worldwide\, Pons’ rhythm-centric brand of unhinged rock n’ roll and controversial approach to live entertainment “Body Connection” have quickly become a must-see in the NYC underground. The debut Pons LP “The Liquid Self” was released in October 2023 on Dedstrange (a record label run by Oliver Ackermann of A Place To Bury Strangers & Death By Audio) and is an ambitious and uncompromising rock opera that details a stranded sailor’s psychedelic death trip. \nJoined by an ALL-STAR LINEUP featuring some of Boston’s BIGGEST and BADDEST musical sensations: TRASH RABBIT\, CLIFFORD\, and MAIN ERA.
