DESCRIPTION:The Violet Sisters by Gina Femia\nfeaturing Charlette Augusta\, Camilla Bastos\, and Kaitlyn Crockett. \nA staged reading of Gina Femia’s contemporary play “The Violet Sisters” – a story of navigating familial\nbonds\, domestic abuse survivorship\, and resilience in the wake of tragedy. \nIn the wake of Hurricane Sandy\, Pam comes home to Brooklyn to attend her father’s funeral. When she\narrives\, she is greeted by an angry sister\, a dilapidated house\, and a past she can’t escape. Despite all of\nher best intentions\, the conversation quickly turns tense and the two sisters are forced to deal with all\nthat they have let slip away\, all the words that have been left unsaid for years. A two-person play with\nGina’s trademark comedic-dramatic expertise that portrays real life nuances of complicated\nrelationships\, “The Violet Sisters” is a play about forgiving when you cannot bring yourself to forget. \nContent Transparency: This play contains conversations around abuse\, abusive relationships\, grief\, the\ndeath of a parent. In addition\, there is a moment of self harm described within the stage directions – this\nsection will be read aloud but not depicted. \n“The Violet Sisters” explores abuse and abusive relationships. Selected honors include The Kilroys List\, Leah Ryan\nPrize\, Doric Wilson Award\, the Otis Guernsey New Voices Award and the Neukom Award in Playwriting\,\nnominations for Drama League and NYIT.
