SUMMARY:Stand-Up Science Presents: Volcano
DESCRIPTION:What happens when a comedian walks into a volcano?\n\n\nIn 2023\, Ben Miller was the artist in residence at Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park\, the first stand-up comedian ever selected. This was probably a terrible idea on their part. \nCome watch this show where scientist turned stand-up comedian Ben Miller explores volcanology\, entomology\, Hawaiian history\, cats\, cookies\, and more. And yes that photo is real. Ben has made people laugh in front of a burning lava lake and he is not afraid of you. \nBen Miller is an NYC based scientist turned comedian who has been working for the past 8 years. In that time\, he has performed at all the top clubs in the city such as Broadway Comedy Club\, Carolines\, and The Stand. Ben was once ranked as the top roast battler in NYC. He has a degree in Materials Science and Engineering\, worked on a science bus\, 3D printed cookies and has diffused a few bar fights while on stage. In 2022\, Ben Miller‘s debut hour\, Stand-Up Science\, had a completely sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and he now tours internationally. \n\n\n\nThis event is suggested 18+ but is All Ages with Parent/Guardian  // Valid ID required for alcohol consumption \nDoors 4:30 PM  \nShow 5:00 PM  \nCOMEDY & THEATER: UNFORTUNATELY\, THERE IS NO LATE SEATING. Seating begins a minimum 30 minutes before show time. We sit center and front sections first\, side sections last. If you want a central seat\, please arrive early.  \nShow will begin no later than 15 minutes after showtime. \nNO REFUNDS 48 HOURS BEFORE SHOWTIME  \nWheelchair Accessibility: Please call the host at (617) 628-4444 to let you in through the elevator in The Gorin Building.

SUMMARY:Magic Late at Night with Jonathan Vale (21+)
DESCRIPTION:What would happen if a magician hijacked a late-night talk show? Magic Late at Night is a thrilling\, retro-themed experience that transports you back to the 1970s and 80s—a time when psychics ruled the late-night airwaves and the paranormal was prime-time entertainment. But this isn’t your typical talk show. Jonathan Vale takes control\, turning the studio into a stage for mind-bending experiments\, eerie encounters\, and supernatural spectacles. Tonight’s special guest is YOU! \n\n“Jonathan Vale is an AMAZING magician.” – Berkshire Real Estate \n” You need to see Jonathan Vale perform!” – YMCA \n“Jonathan is AMAZING! Highly recommend seeing him.”- ALZ.org \n“I have been in the entertainment and performing arts industry for over a decade now\, and I can safely say that Jonathan Vale is THE best magician and mentalist I have ever seen!” Christian K. \n“By the end of it all\, I hope you will not only be losing sleep while trying to figure out how I did my magic\, you will have a newly invigorated desire to live your life to its fullest potential.”- Jonathan Vale \n\nSENSITIVE CONTENT WARNING: JONATHAN’S SHOW IS “RATED PG-13” AND CONTAINS STRONG THEMES AND\, SOMETIMES\, BLOOD.\nThis show will be audio and video recorded.\nNote: This is in an intimate venue\, so tickets are limited. Priority will be given to online E-ticket holders over door walk-ins if the capacity is reached. \nThis event is 21+ // Valid ID required \nDoors 6:30 PM\nShow 7:00 PM \nTickets: $25 adv / $30 day of \nUNFORTUNATELY\, THERE IS NO LATE SEATING. SUMMARY:Lucas O'Neil: Emotional Man
DESCRIPTION:Lucas O’Neil built his stand-up career talking about his family on stage. Now\, they’d like him to stop. And\, he will — right after this show. In one final airing of grievances\, Lucas examines his anxious family\, his role within it\, and how it all changed after his mother’s passing. Over the course of a rapid hour (57 minutes)\, Lucas outlines his mother’s gift for worrying\, his father’s for over-preparing\, and his own gift for looking a lot like the young men who are cast as Spiderman. Layered amidst these witty observations of male friendship\, and stories of being forced to shoot guns in the South\, Emotional Man offers a hilarious and insightful examination of the people and places that shape who we are and who we become without them.\n\n\nPRAISE FOR LUCAS O’NEIL: EMOTIONAL MAN \n“O’Neil makes such powerful storytelling look effortless.” (BROADWAY WORLD) \n“A gag-packed hour\, full of smart social observation.” (THE SCOTSMAN) \n“A beautifully crafted and hilarious look at men’s emotions\, family dynamics and grief.” (GIG GOSSIP) \n“Incredibly likable\, insightful and funny.” (ENTERTAINMENT NOW) \n\n\nThis event is All Ages  // Valid ID required for alcohol consumption \nDoors 6:15 PM  \nShow 7:00 PM  \nCOMEDY & THEATER: UNFORTUNATELY\, THERE IS NO LATE SEATING. The kitchen is your heart. The food is made with food. The food is sometimes poems. Either way you are fed. \nAdobo-Fish-Sauce is an active choice to celebrate in the face of bitterness. It is responding to “Go back to where you come from!” by bringing where they are from right to you. The duo fuses spoken word\, cooking\, intentionality\, vulnerability\, and joy to create a one-of-a-kind experience that can’t be found in any kitchen or open mic. \nAdobo-Fish-Sauce is an artist project fusing live cooking and spoken word poetry to invite the audience into an enhanced storytelling experience. New England-based poets Anthony Febo and Ricky Orng invite the audience to be active creators in the experience by engaging them in conversations over food. This performance will include finger foods\, live cooking\, and delicious smells. \nPHOTO RELEASE \nBy purchasing tickets\, you grant The Jar permission to use your likeness in photographs\, videos\, or other digital media in its publications\, including web-based publications\, without payment or other consideration. \nCONTACT US \ninfo@jumpinthejar.org \nThis event is 21+// Valid ID required for ENTRY \nDoors 7:00 PM  \nShow 7:30 PM  \nREFUNDS DETERMINED BY THE JAR \nWheelchair Accessibility: Please call the host at (617) 628-4444 to let you in through the elevator in The Gorin Building. \n  \n

SUMMARY:CANCELED: Tinder Live! with Lane Moore
DESCRIPTION:Tinder Live! With Lane Moore is the critically acclaimed comedy show where Moore projects her dating app onto a screen\, swipes through profiles live on stage\, and the audience votes whether she swipes right or left\, to cathartic\, hilarious\, and surprisingly kind results. \nTinder Live has become a much-beloved comedy show\, selling out shows across the U.S. and Canada\, including festivals like SF Sketchfest\, and has a long-running monthly residency in New York City. The show has been named a critics’ pick in The New York Times\, The Atlantic\, Spin Magazine\, The Guardian\, Paper Magazine\, VICE\, Paste Magazine\, Fast Company\, Cosmopolitan\, The Washington Post\, Entertainment Tonight\, Good Morning America\, New York Magazine\, The New York Post\, Time Out\, Huffington Post\, CBS\, and New York Observer. \n  \n“Truly addictive entertainment…it’s ingenious. The way she manipulates tone and pace reveals an artist supremely confident in her form.” —The New York Times\n“Compassionate and hilarious…it’s a smash.” –– Spin Magazine\n“A hilarious comedy show. Moore isn’t cynical about love\, she’s just put in a lot of time in the trenches.” —New York Magazine\n“Tinder Live captures all the magic of this truly ridiculous era in app-based dating in real time. You’ll relate to Moore’s live-swiping and laugh at her reactions and messages to would-be suitors.” — Vulture\, who listed Tinder Live in their list of vital NYC comedy shows \n“Tinder Live makes light of just how absurd and soul-sucking swiping through an endless procession of other human beings can become. Moore expertly steers the crowd from mean-heartedness to substance with each match.” — VICE\n“Smart and hilarious. Tinder Live is this generation’s version of The Dating Game.” — Hello Giggles\n“An anything can happen\, interactive comedy showstopper.” — NBC\n“Moore’s commentary will make you cry laughing. It’s seriously funny.” — CBS\, who called it one of the 5 Best Comedy Shows in NYC\n“[Tinder Live] is a group therapy session\, with Moore making light of the exhaustion\, frustration\, apathy and general nonsense we’ve all had to endure from the popular dating app.” — New York Post\n“Moore started Tinder Live! because she wanted to ‘create an environment that could take this isolating\, depressing as hell experience of trying to find someone amazing in a sea of cocky idiots and turn it into this room full of people who were all in it together.’ And that’s how it felt that night. We weren’t alone. We were all schlepping through this together.” — Huffington Post\n“Brilliant.” — Ellen Degeneres\n“Transforms the otherwise bleak and sometimes even downright horrific modern-day dating experience into a hilarious long-form improv show.” —Gothamist\n“Tinder Live is not just a show\, it’s an event…the show is special. Moore isn’t making cheap digs at guy’s looks or ring collections. She isn’t going for the easy laugh. Her words and responses were funny; but because she made them funny.” —Comedy Cake\n“An interactive\, live-performance\, therapy-comedy show created to help those of us who have submitted to dating online deal with its inherently depressing realities.” – Brooklyn Magazine\nBrightest Young Things called it “the greatest show on earth.”\nTime Out New York called it one of the “Best Comedy Shows By Women In NYC.” \n  \nThis event is All Ages // Valid ID required for alcohol consumption\nDoors 7:00 PM\nShow 8:00 PM \nUNFORTUNATELY\, THERE IS NO LATE SEATING FOR COMEDY & THEATER.\nSeating begins 30-60 minutes before show time.
