SUMMARY:CANCELED Object Workshop with John Lutz
DESCRIPTION:Object Workshop with John Lutz\n\n\nLearn how to make your improv less complicated by just going back to one of the core principles of improvisation: object work. You may know him best as Lutz from 30 Rock. Other screen appearances include: Loot\, Chicago Med\, The Good Wife\, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Film credits include The Comedian\, Sisters\, Sleepwalk with Me and Friends with Kids. He wrote for Saturday Night Live from 2004-2010 and is currently in his 10th year writing for Late Night with Seth Meyers. For 3 years\, he toured the world from Bangkok to Rockford\, IL with The Second City National Touring Company. He recently wrote and produced the NY Times bestselling audiobook Escape from Virtual Island. He created\, co-wrote and produced the series Mapleworth Murders with Paula Pell\, which is streaming on Roku. He is currently featured in the 3rd season of Girls5Eva on Netflix. SUMMARY:Breaking Improv Habits with Peter Grosz
DESCRIPTION:Breaking Improv Habits with Peter Grosz\n\n\nNo matter how long you have been improvising\, you have bad habits. It could be not listening\, playing the same characters over and over\, or always letting other people initiate scenes. These habits are difficult to work on by yourself but in this workshop we will examine where you struggle and I’ll push you out of your comfort zone and get you to broaden your range as an improviser. Whether you’re a veteran feeling stuck on a plateau\, a newcomer struggling to get a handle on your performance style or anyone in between\, this is the workshop for you. \nNote: after your registration is confirmed I ask that you think of one or two bad habits and email the theater so they can pass them along to me \nBIO \nPeter Grosz began his theatrical and improv training in Chicago where he performed regularly at Improv Olympic and wrote and performed in four reviews on The Second City’s ETC stage. Films include The Menu\, Stranger Than Fiction\, Rough Night\, Things Heard and Seen and Here Today. TV credits include a recurring role as Sidney Purcell on Veep\, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel\, Fleishman Is In Trouble\, Key and Peele and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Writing credits include At Home With Amy Sedaris (WGA Award)\, Late Night With Seth Meyers and The Colbert Report (Emmy\, Peabody and WGA Awards). He was also the Executive Producer of and played Mike Pence on The President Show. New York stage credits include Goodnight Oscar at the Belasco Theater on Broadway and A Kid Like Jake at Lincoln Center. He can be heard as a frequent panelist on NPR’s Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me and was the guy sitting in the driver’s seat in a long running series of commercials for Sonic Drive In. \n\n\n\n\n\nThis event is 16+\n \nWheelchair Accessibility: Please call the host at (617) 628-4444 to let you in through the elevator in The Gorin Building.

SUMMARY:Red Nose Clown Workshop with Mycah Hogan
DESCRIPTION:Red Nose Clown Workshop with Mycah Hogan\n\nTiny Bullseye: Discovering the Red Nose Clown\nTHIS IS A 2-DAY WORKSHOP! You must be available for both days\n\nFor as long as there have been humans\, there have been clowns\, and this new and exciting workshop with Mycah Hogan invites you to discover your unique clown through movement\, improvisation\, and the profound depth of play. Through a combination of somatic exploration and opportunities to wear “the smallest mask in the world” (the red nose)\, participants will uncover their unique individual movement patterns and learn to amplify the physical and emotional themes that already inhabit the body. This process reveals the traces of a “personal clown”: a comic persona that is rooted in your individual truth while touching the timeless nature of laughter.Open to all—actors\, improvisers\, directors\, comedians\, dancers\, aerialists\, teachers\, facilitators\, and anyone curious about the poetry of the ridiculous. No clown experience necessary. Come with a willingness to be vulnerable\, to be incredibly stupid\, to be nothing\, to be everything\, and to explore the stuff that makes us human. We’ll explore clown as a state and the fundamentals of performance while engaging with group dynamics\, physicality\, and the art of collaborative creation. This is clown as both artistic practice and personal journey—a dance of resilience\, a celebration of what makes you uniquely\, foolishly\, beautifully you.\n\nBio\nMycah Hogan is a clown\, educator\, and community organizer. He is a performer\, director\, and one of the most innovative young teachers in the world for clown\, mask\, and physical acting. On faculty at Brown-Trinity Repertory’s MFA Program and NYU’s International Theatre Workshop\, he teaches in Amsterdam\, New York\, Philadelphia\, and in his home city of Providence\, where he is committed to generating a legendary clown scene by providing affordable\, conservatory-level actor training to the next generation of innovative theater artists.\n\n\n\n\nThis event is All ages\, though recommended for 16+\n \nThis is a 2-day workshop and you must be available for both days. \nDoors 9:30 AM  \nStart 10:00 AM  \nEnd 4:00 PM  \nWheelchair Accessibility: Please call the host at (617) 628-4444 to let you in through the elevator in The Gorin Building.
